Jack and Millie - 67 Years of Marriage

This Valentines day I wanted to bring a special love story.  There is something so beautiful about a love that has lasted for many years, young love is special in it's own way, however a love that has weathered life's ups and downs, that's beautiful.  A marriage that has stayed true to the vows that were made on the wedding day, this is the story of Jack and Millie's love story.

December 23rd 1950, Jack and Millie became husband and wife,  but that was far from the beginning of their love story.  It began on bicycles in their families neighborhood when Jack was nine and Millie was eight years old.  Around 11 years old, Jack's family moved to St Louis for his Dad's work, several years later Millie's family moved to St Louis as well.  Starting over in a new city, they began to settle and found a church that they enjoyed.  The first Sunday at Millie's new Sunday school, she found herself a few rows down from an old friend, Jack.  That began their friendship anew, and around the ages of 15 and 16 years old they began dating. They continued to fall in love  and at the ages of 20 and 21  they realized that although they didn't have a penny to their names they wanted to be together and so they became engaged.  On the 23rd of December 1950, they became husband and wife.  On the wedding day, Jack had 35 cents in his pocket but they felt rich in the love they had for each other.  67th AnniversaryJack and Millie 67th AnniversaryJack and Millie 67th AnniversaryJack and Millie jackandmilliejackandmillie 67th AnniversaryJack and Millie jackandmilliejackandmillie 67th AnniversaryJack and Millie jackandmilliejackandmillie jackandmilliejackandmillie

I asked as we finished talking about their marriage and love story if they had any marriage advice that they would give, after a moment to think this is the advice they gave:

" Be so busy that you don't have time to disagree on anything" ~ Millie

" When you have an argument, make sure to forgive in the end.  Forgive and forget!" ~ Jack

After being married for 67 years, having run a successful  business and raising a family together I think they know a thing or two about lasting love and a successful marriage!

Happy Valentines day friends!
